You've unfortunately been brainwashed by years of Trophies / Achievements / Points / Whatever Nintendo is pinging on the upper portion of the screen. They mean nothing. You did something prior to these notification bells because you wanted to do so. Now they have you trained like a Pavlovian dog. You anticipate being told you did something important in a game. Just turn that junk off. It also can take you out of the game experience.
